Great experience!
My husband and I had an excellent time on this King Crab Safari. Our guide, Kent was so informative and so hospitable during the entire tour and lunch.

Read full reviewWe really enjoyed the tour on Snowscooter to the frozen lake, where we were catching the king crabs. Michael was a great guide, telling us the story of the crabs, and about the Area around kirkenes.
Read full reviewWe planned this safari tour at the end of our journey in Norway. After weeks of hiking, fishing, traffic and flight, we all were very exhausted.
Read full reviewThe red king crab is a massive creature that can get up to two meters (about 6,5 feet!) from leg to leg. Each leg is bigger than a lobster and full of delicious, juicy crab meat. Seeing this monstrosity up close is an adventure in itself and in Kirkenes you have the unique chance to go out to the Barents Sea and help pull this beast ashore.
In Norway the king crab season lasts all year, meaning you can go on the Deadliest Catch adventure of your dreams both summer and winter. Back on land you’ll be served a proper king crab meal – the freshest crab you’ll ever come across.
The portions are truly massive and you can be rest assured that no one will go hungry.
Kirkenes offers raw and diverse arctic sceneries featuring tundra, mountains and lakes as far as your eye can see. One of the most popular attractions in this area is king crab safaris, earning Kirkenes the nickname King Crab City.
In Kirkenes there is no need to wait until summer to go king crab fishing. When living in a region that’s frozen half the year, you sometimes need to get creative on how to do things – including securing the catch of the day. During winter you can join a snowmobile tour to the fjord ice and pull the crab pots on land through a hole in the ice – truly taking the concept of a fresh meal to the next level! If you are lucky, the Northern Lights could be dancing across the sky during your trip making the experience even more epic.
King Crab fishing may be one of the most popular activities in the region, but Kirkenes has a lot of things to offer to make your North Norwegian holiday complete. Snowhotel Kirkenes 365 – completely built of snow and ice – is by far the most unique hotel in the area.
Spend an unforgettable night in a winter wonderland and enjoy local dishes over the open fire. Have a team of huskies pick you up at the airport and transport you through the winter landscape and drop you off at the magical Snowhotel gates. Kirkenes also lets you explore a huge range of activities like dog sledding, snowmobiling and Northern Lights tours. If you are there for a couple of days, you have plenty of time to combine your Deadliest Catch experience with other adventure tours.
Imagine pulling one massive king crab on land after the other. A couple of hours later it will be on a plate in front of you. We can promise you right now is the freshest crab you’ll ever come across. What could be more exhilarating than catching your own dinner in the middle of the Barents Sea? It’s time to unleash your inner adventurer.
